My personal web design resource

Welcome to Cumbria Web Design. This is my personal resource for all things web design. It's intended to be an accumulation of my web design knowledge and learning gathered over the last 20 years of building websites. 

I am a self employed web designer and I build sites either manually in HTML and CSS or in Joomla CMS. My initial design work is all done in Photoshop. There are many fancy tools out there these days for building websites, creating visual designs and managing the workflow, but when I began there were far less options. 

Over the years I've frequently had to research how to do or fix something on a website, and I've figured it out and implemented it on whichever site I was working on. However, the next time I need that snippet of code or technique, I have to try and remember which site I did it on to retrieve the information, and that's not always easy!

I therefore decided to put together a website where I could start to collate all this useful information as I went along, so I can find it more easily! And hopefully it might also come in useful for someone else on their journey.

I'd like to make this into a fairly comprehensive and useful resource. We will see how it goes. I started this in Joomla 3 using K2 then Joomla 4 came along and K2 got left behind, so I've had to do a reset!

I offer no guarantees regarding accuracy and efficacy, and it's quite possible that the way I do things may not always be the best way. But everything I put on here I will have used in my work and will have found it useful. So hopefully some of you may find something here that may come in useful.  

I'll also be putting together a section on here which will be an online resource for my Joomla clients. I always put together written instructions for them with screenshots that are specifically tailored to their needs, but a more general online resource that is searchable will I think benefit them.
